Legong Dance is one of Bali’s most visually alluring royal court performances. The dance is considered one of the island’s most revered classical pieces, known for its physically demanding postures and fast-paced movements which require a significant level of flexibility among its generally young female performers. Choreographed to a set pattern with the finest detail, the dance has been well-preserved through generations.

The dancers were beautiful and interesting. It was difficult to see given folks standing on the way….

When I was walking around the Ubud Royal Palace in the afternoon, I met a person selling tickets, and when I asked him which one was recommended, he said Kecak Dance, so I bought it for about 1000 yen.
The venue was a short walk from Ubud Palace. I watched it in a place with a roof due to a squall, and it was amazing. I think you'll enjoy it more if you study the story in advance. I had a front row center seat, so the battle scene in the second half was very impressive.
The all a cappella expression is a masterpiece.

We attended a performance here and the dancers, costumes and the setting is fabulous. I would get here early to get a good sit and be prepared for any seating to be uncomfortable after a while as the performances are quite long and sitting can range from sitting on steps to plastic chairs, to sitting on a metal riser of sorts.

In front of the palace, the venue for the show, you will find an anthill of sellers of entry tickets for 100,000 RP (approximately 6th).
You have to arrive early to get a good seat on plastic chairs.
For us it was a deluge of rain so we had to transfer the show opposite to the public hall.
Good organization nonetheless. The show started on time.
The dances definitely tell a story but it's a shame there isn't a screen that at least transcribes it all in English nearby.
The music is haunting and the sequences much too long.
Many spectators left the room before the end of the show which lasted 1h30.
The clothes and decorations are very pretty.

Slow start to a performance of dancers whose proficiency increased as the show went on. By the end I was wanting to see the whole show again. I will definitely continue to bring visitors here and recommend to others.

I chose the dance at the Royal Palace because I thought it was the royal road. While I was waiting at the palace, it suddenly started pouring. It was a squall. The dance was canceled, but it was changed to a covered stage across the road. I thought it would be similar to other Asian countries, but the power of the music was different. It was good.
