Once in the Medina of Tanger, you’ll be immediately immersed in the historical heritage and the cultural prosperity of old Tangier. During these 2 hours or so; You will feel like you have time-traveled back to medieval times. The walking tour of the Medina will let you have direct contact with the friendly locals. Additionally, by strolling down the Medina’s labyrinthine alleyways, the tour will take you through the most important landmarks of the city such as the Grand Socco, the Petit Socco, and the Kasbah. You will also visit monuments that are considered architectural masterpieces decorated with mosaics, ornamental stucco, and wood carvings such as the Great Mosque, Dar El Mekhzen located in the Kasbah, and the American Legation. 2. Place du Grand 9 Avril 1947
During the tour of the Medina, you’ll make a stop at this historical square which is commonly known as Grand Socco and that divides the Medina from the Ville Nouvelle area of Tangier. It is one of the places that hosted Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany when he visited Tangiers on 3 March 1905. The stopover worsened tension between the Germans and the French and that, among other events, ultimately led to World War I. It’s also the location where King Mohamed V delivered his speech and the symbol of his arrival to the city on April 9, 1947, when Tangiers was under international domination. 3. Petit Socco
During the tour inside the walls of the Medina, you’ll make a stop at this historical square which is locally known as Souk Dakhel. It was once home to many notable and extremely significant writers like Paul Bowles, Jean Genet, Tennessee Williams, and Mohamed Choukri. 4. Gran Mezquita de Tanger
The Great Mosque of Tangier, a nineteenth-century construction, stands prominently in the former center of the Medina. Once the home of significant religious buildings from various civilizations, dating back to a fifth-century Roman church, the site carries a rich historical legacy. Following the eighth-century Muslim conquest, the Marinid Dynasty converted the church into a mosque, a transformation that endured until the late fifteenth century. During the centuries of Portuguese and English rule, the mosque underwent a shift, replaced by a church that marked Tangier's evolving architectural landscape. However, in 1684, after Moulay Ismail recaptured the city for the Alawi dynasty, the church underwent yet another transformation, reverting to its original role as a mosque. 5. Tangier Casbah

Very professional guides, customized the trip and worked with our schedule. Everything was great except for the store visit shakedowns. So would suggest asking not to go to any stores unless you want pressure sales or really do want to buy scarves, jewelry or spices.

Hamid was a knowledgeable guide and driver was very good. However when you choose a private tour you don’t want to go to where the large groups are taken. We were taken to a restaurant that we were not given a menu and was told we had 3 choices to pick from. And then the bill was $100 plus really for that lunch. Would have preferred to go to a traditional restaurant were all the large groups were not taken. Then we were taken to two stores of their choosing and one herb store. We really did not get to see the bazaar as we could see the stores. The first part of the tour was excellent. But disappointed with lunch and the bazaar.

I injured my knee in Barcelona and both the driver and tour guide were helpful and accommodating with my wheelchair. They took us wherever we wanted.

We couldn't have done this tour without Ahmeed. He was incredible. He took care of us from the point we met him at the port terminal at 9:30.. Extremely informative and friendly. He also helped us avoid some of the more persistent shop keepers. We learned so much from him.

Tangier is an amazing place. Ahmeed knows everyone. He listened to our interests and even added a couple stops based on what he heard. He made sure we had an authentic Moroccan meal that was outstanding. He also took time to make sure we could get the spices we were wanting.

It was only supposed to be 4 hours. But Ahmeed didn't want us to waste time waiting in the port. He took us to some extra places and dropped us off at 4:30.

You definitely need to add this tour to your plans.

You won’t be disappointed. Seriously. Stop scrolling and schedule with this company. After a day with Abdelmajid Domnati, we felt like friends. We were cared for and protected all day. Abdelmajid Domnati’s knowledge of Tangier was vast, and he explained the history in an engaging way. It was evident from the beginning that his goal was for us to have an amazing day. When we were hungry, he quickly found us delicious food. When we were thirsty, he showed us to a drink. We were unaware of the time difference between Spain and Morocco, so we arrived an hour early. Still Abdelmajid Domnati was there as soon as we called to help us navigate the arrival. I can’t recommend LatifTours enough.
