When you come to our Mochi shop, first, please watch closely and learn while the artisan demonstrates how to make Wagashi, then it's your turn to try your hand at Wagashi making.

Among many types of Wagashi, you will be making some pieces of seasonally inspired "Nerikiri", a kind of Wagashi made of sweet white bean paste and Mochi.

Even if you have little experience in creative activities or cooking, we will carefully guide you through the process.

Delicately form the colored dough into various shapes by hand, and carefully add lines with tools to perfectly portray "the seasonal beauty of Japan".

【note】
Please understand previously that the host of this experience is not a commercial type of person, but a Japanese real Wagashi artisan. And usually, Japanese real artisan cannot speak English well. But we will do our best to make you enjoy this experience!

I placed the booking on 21/5 for the 23/6 class. After 2 days, I found my trip have a little bit change so I ask the operator do me a favour to postpone 1 day. The operator insisted order is confirmed and it is not allow any change as per the T&C. It's okey, I understand it is not you fault, although the operator can't make a flexible arrangement.
Due to my class confirmed on 23/6, I scheduled arrival Tokyo on 22/6. Unfortunately I just received cancel notice on 22/6 about 5pm. The reason is system mistake! System Mistake happened after a month?!

The operator did apologise immediately, and ask me place the booking again to keeping the class on 23/6. However as a traveler, do you think I must available anytime during the trip? I need take care of your fault in short time?
In order to avoid any mistake again, finally I re-booked with Eikoudou directly in other way. It is a little bit risky, but it is half price only compare with Tripadvisor.

Wonderful experience working with nerikiri dough. We made 2 designs that day, a plum and a hydrangea. The whole experience took about 1.5 hrs inside a small sweets shop in the suburbs of Shinjuku. Our workshop that day had 4 people (one of them knew Japanese and was able to translate the teachers directions to us when he could not find the right English words to use). We are very appreciative that he conversed with us in as much English as possible regardless (through his self or through google translate). The teacher was patient and understand while we worked to create our beautiful sweets. They were delicious by the way :)

I highly recommend this experience if you want a unique experience away from the busy tourist sights of Tokyo.

We had the most hilarious time in this class--it was right out of "Lost in Translation" but comedic throughout. We laughed so much. Would absolutely recommend this class. The teacher was kind, wonderful and wicked funny.

This was a fun class to learn the traditional art of wagashi sweets. The class was in an actual sweets shop, which made for a truly authentic experience. The teacher selected the sweets to make based on the season (sakura and spring themes), and we made two of each type to really get the feel of how to make them. The wagashi was beautiful, delicious, and so much fun to make. I appreciate that the instructor also explained the philosophy of appealing to all five senses when making wagashi, it makes me appreciate this traditional craft even more.

The Wagasi is beautiful and yummy. The teacher is professional, can speak limited English. The shop is not big and no recipe on ingredients is provided. A very good opportunity to learn the technical skill of making traditional Japanese sweet.
