The personalized road trip saved us hours of research and planning. We knew the route we wanted to travel, and based on that, we were provided with an interactive map, places to see (with information and color photos) and suggestions of places to stay. This was so helpful because the spelling of things is very challenging. We also appreciated the travelers' advice. When the first itinerary sent to us felt like too much driving - we requested and received a new one that suited us perfectly. We were so glad we opted for this service.

We paid for the personalized tour, and no one asked us what we wanted to see or any preferences; we were given an address in the middle of a park to pick up the itinerary, but there was no one there, we called the phone number, and no one answered. I'm not sure if this was fraud intentionally, but we will request our cash back from the credit card company.

This plan consists of boilerplate pages that are assembled in an order that approximates requests made. It is not personalized. We specifically requested a minimum of waterfalls and got a plan with many.
Although this may be a good starting point, folks who use this service should be aware that considerable fine tuning of the document will be needed to make it truly personalized.

This was the best purchase I could have made for our trip to Iceland. This plan had some great suggestions for things to do and see that are not as "touristy" but also hit all the must-see places, but it also provided a ton of flexibility when our plans needed to change due to notorious Iceland winter weather. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I particularly loved the photos and detailed explanation of each place that was recommended and why.

Overall very pleased with this service. Saved me hours researching and planning route and accommodation. At one particular cabin, host was so friendly and helpful suggesting a couple of extra attractions which we found very useful. Did not visit all the places mentioned as we felt we would not appreciate 1-2 sights in the winter. Keeping these attractions on back burner for when we revisit in Spring/summer another time.

The discount code towards hotel and car hire is a bonus and contributed towards reducing the cost for this plan.

We decided to use When In Iceland to help plan our road trip as there was certain ‘definites’ we wanted to see but thought it best to get some inside help to make the routes work
And they did.... they were always available to go through any changes or offer any advice - and saved us so much time and headaches by planning our route
Highly recommend and would certainly use again - thank you all so much - I love Iceland

I've previously written a glowing review of the "Personalized Road Trip Plan" that I purchased from When In Iceland. I wrote it 3 days into our 12-day visit. I am happy to report, that for the duration of our trip, the product we purchased from When In Iceland was invaluable! We circumnavigated the Island in 10 days of driving (1600+ miles; or 2600+ km). The recommendations from When In Iceland NEVER, and I mean NEVER, let us down. We asked for some roads less traveled, and those destinations were some of our favorite adventures. When In Iceland even gave me links to Google Map routes for each day, and links to recommended hotels/guesthouses. Also, we had links to some of the activities (like snorkeling and kayaking) that were excellent, and they came with a small discount. All told, I think the discounts we got by using links from When In Iceland covered the cost of the Road Trip Plan.

In summary, we found the Icelandic people to be as endearing as their land, and When In Iceland delivered their service to us in true Icelandic fashion!

I don’t think I can overstate how helpful the road trip plan has been! We are on day 3 of our road trip and the information provided by When In Iceland has been absolutely spot on.

We did a lot of preplanning for this trip - not our usual way, because I wasn’t confident we could figure it all out while on the road. I’m convinced we made a good call there. With all of our accommodations precooked, we travel with confidence, and we don’t have to spend any time online or on the phone trying to book rooms.

Also, the personalized PDF of our itinerary has been accurate and very applicable. For our 10-day road trip it was 72 pages!!

There is so much to do here in Iceland, it’s nice to know we have a local’s perspective on what places and activities are those “must see or do” things.

Lastly, I’ll say that Heida (sorry, I don’t know how to make the little line through the D!) was very responsive to my emails as we were fleshing out the plan. This service was an excellent choice for us!
