Spent two full hours with an excellent tour guide, Carmelido Fuca, exploring. She brought the rich history to life and made clear a multi-millennium drama, that luckily preserved one temple and many other partial temples and alters from 400 BC.

Greeks, Carthaginians, and Romans are all players in the long history.

We left Giardini Naxos early in the morning to discover the Valley of the Temples, our guide Renate was punctual, precise and very prepared. Then, after lunch we visited the farmhouse villa in Piazza Armerina with its splendid mosaics. The Sat group is a guarantee. We have done other trips with them many years ago and were satisfied and so again this year.

We were so looking forward to this excursion and it did not disappoint! It’s a must if you don’t mind an early start! We had the pleasure of our lovely tour guide Renate. She was so knowledgeable and we felt safe in her hands that we boarded the right bus at the right time! She was so thoughtful and kind as my partner had injured her leg/foot earlier in the holiday and Renate was very patient with our slow walking! A really lovely leisurely lunch in a restaurant which offered traditional Sicilian food including Arancini.
Hats off to our driver who covered the distance of 580 Kms from Taormina to Agrigento and Valley of the Temples and then on to Villa Romana del Casale ensuring our safety and comfort.
It’s a longish day but well worth the journey.
A special thank you to our special guide Renate x

A perfectly organized day trip. The tour guide Renate was attentive to each guest, explained everything in detail in German, English and Italian and was immediately on hand if there was the slightest problem. It couldn't be better. Nino the bus driver was on time and drove us safely to the sights, thank you.
I can fully recommend this tour from SAT!

Beautiful places to see at least once in your life. Very well organized excursion, our driver Nino was fantastic and our guide Renate was excellent and accompanied us from morning to evening. Very knowledgeable and helpful, precise in the directions provided both throughout the trip and during the visits. We didn't wait a minute in line! For the lunch break we move to a small town by the sea, the restaurant that is proposed is suitable for a simple lunch, obviously you can choose to go elsewhere. For the visit to Piazza Armerina he provided us with all the explanations in the 40 minutes before arrival, also showing us images so we could then easily identify the mosaics. This is because it would be impossible to linger in each room as a group due to the shape of the route. We had no difficulty recognizing what was previously explained.

Good tour, good guide. A little confusion about redemption of tout voucher. The instructions said we have to redeem the voucher at the bus station prior to departure. But when we got there, the ticket office told us to go to SAT agency. Then at SAT agency, we were told there was no need to redeem anything because their records showed that we have paid, so the voucher was “the tour ticket”

Our Tour Guide Renata waa very knowledgeable and kept us informed ( in 3 languages) on the way to both of The archaeological sites . Valley of the Temples waa amazing but at the end there was almost no opportunity to buy a small souvenir as We were rushed into the bus and taken to a small pre-booked restaurant (So no choice and with only 1 toilet for such a large group. Add into your trip 20€ for Lunch & 24€ in entrance fees per person. The bus & driver were also very good. Overall it was a good, but long day. (13hours)

I'd read the reviews before booking this trip. Yes it's a long day, yes the guide speaks more than one language, yes lunch was at a restaurant that might not have been my first choice BUT so what?! It's a fabulous trip - the drive across the island is a treat. The temple remains are incredible to look at (I hope you don't have a miserable traveller, like I did, who moaned about being bored all day). Lunch was actually very good - food was fairly cheap, hot and more than sufficient. The Villa Romana blew my mind.

Ignore all the negative reviews and book this trip - you won't regret it!

Too much driving and not enough time at each location! Also, Taormina is too far to make this tour to Agrigento and September is too hot in Sicily.

Valley of the Temples 10 pts Wonderful Guide
Villa Romana 5 pts

However it was a long ride from Taormina. The bus was air conditioned, but the seats too small and uncomfortable for my 6”1” frame, especially when the rider in front moved their seat back.
Also by the time we arrived at the villa I was dog tired.
Also the bathrooms adjacent to the Villa in the white building/restaurant/bar were absolutely filthy with broken seats and no paper.
