The shop is based on community women empowerment, they make the beads from clay to finished items in the shop. Various women from different parts of the country benefit from this fantastic idea. They take you through step by step of the process of their crafts.
2. Utamaduni Craft Centre
The best African craft shop in Nairobi, Utamaduni is a must to drop into on the way to some of the exciting venues in Nairobi's green suburb of Karen/Langata, known for the famous writer, Karen Blixen's original farm with beautiful views of the Ngong hills. Incorporate a visit to this unique house of crafts on the day of your visit to the baby elephants, feeding the giraffes and Kazuri beads. The shop, a converted Kikuyu house with 18 shops, is a treasure trove of African crafts, antiques and art, with friendly staff to assist and help pack or ship if needed. After shopping stop and have refreshments in the large beautiful garden restaurant and if you are a bird watcher the many exotic birds will keep you entertained. Tim was our guide and was so knowledge and helpful. Gave us a lot of history about Kenya and Nairobi as well as took us to some great shopping. We were able to get most of what we wanted before going on safari. This trip was exactly what we were looking for. Extremely convenient pick up and drop off at our hotel.

George was super awesome! I really enjoyed going through Nairobi National Park and seeing all of the animals! He also gave us a lot of information about Kenyan culture and the animals.

I was a solo traveler for this tour and enjoyed every bit of it. Obed was my driver/ tour guide and he ensure I was comfortable. He is very knowledgeable and I would recommend getting him as a guide if you really want to learn about Kenya as a whole!
