It was a fantastic tour. Great organization from the pick up to the city tour. Andrea the guide, very nice and very knowledgeable. I got to know and appreciate Catania, its history, architecture, very characteristic fish market and great food included in the price. I recommend it. Excellent.

We took part in the 'Catania Street Food Walking Tour and Market Adventure' excursion that went to Catania. The departure was at 7:45 a.m. from the bus terminal in Taormina.
We were warmly greeted by our tour guide Andrea. The journey took a good hour on the motorway with a short break at the last gas station. For espresso lovers: there is a really good one here from Kimbo.

Giacomo, our cool bus driver, dropped us off at the bus stop right in the center.

Our group, which consisted of 14 people, was just a few minutes' walk from the Cathedral of Sant'Agata (Basilica Cattedrale di Sant'Agata), where the actual tour began.

We passed the Elephant Fountain (Fontana dell'Elefante ['u Liotru]) and went to the "4-church district": the San Benedetto Church (Chiesa di San Benedetto), the Saint Julian Church (Chiesa di San Giuliano), the Saint Francis Church Borgia (Chiesa di San Francesco Borgia) and the St. Francis of Assisi Church (Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Francesco d’Assisi [all’Immacolata]).

From there, after a short walk, the first culinary break was planned. In wonderful weather, we were served Arancino and Cipolline on the outside terrace of the 'Caffe Vergnano'.

We continued to the Castello Ursino, a fortress from the 13th century. Here, in the 17th century, a lava flow during a volcanic eruption had greatly changed the immediate surroundings of the fortress.

Right next door we were able to try another delicacy at the 'Bar Chiosco In68'. The 'Spritz' in various flavors. Be brave and order the 'Original'.

From there to the 'Piazza dell' Indirizzo' where it is very lively all around, with many market stalls. At the 'Ammucca Ammucca' there was another specialty to taste. Something very special, I don't want to give away any more here, just this much: everyone who tried it liked it.

Then we went past the fish market. Recommended for lovers of this kind.

The last stage was dedicated to desserts. At the Prestipino Duomo the selection is huge and the quality is excellent. After a cassatelle from Sant'Agata and an espresso we were able to explore the area on our own for half an hour before taking the bus back to Taormina where we arrived back at the bus terminal at 2:30 p.m.

Just outside, we can taste another delight at “Bar Chiosco In68”. The 'Spritz' in different spirits. Take it and order the original.

Then we went to the fish market. Recommended for the romantic correspondents.
