Learn about Ancient and modern Roman history as only a gay-friendly guide can tell it!
Your tour begins at the spot where Julius Caesar was betrayed and killed. Then, walk along the imperial Forum - the political and social heart of the Roman Empire. Learn about Julius Caesar and how homosexuality was viewed socially in Ancient Rome.
At the Capitoline Hill, climb 124 marble steps to reach the Basilica of Santa Maria in Ara Coeli where we'll come across a lesser known sight: the simple tomb of Michelangelo's young lover.
From here, you'll walk over to "Opium Hill" where you will visit the Basilica of St. Peter in Chains. Inside, encounter one of Michelangelo's most celebrated sculptures: the horned Moses.
Finally, stop for a drink with your group (own expense) at a famous gay pub on Rome's "Gay Street" while enjoying the view of the Ludus Magnus -- the ruins of the Gladiator school.

Fabulous evening tour with Stefano. Learnt lots about the history of Rome and LGBT pioneers. Stefano was knowledgeable and fun and the time passed so quickly. Great to end the tour in a bar in the with the rest of the group and Stefano - felt like a night out with friends.

I booked a few tours with Viator but this was my favourite!
I've always heard and read about the secret lives of Rome's historical figures, and with this tour I could experience what their lives must have been like and how they gave expression to their "gayness"
Our tour guide was astonishing- his knowledge of the history of Rome and the secret lives of its famous historical figures amazed us all!
The people in the tour group was great too - straight friendly they made my straight friend feel welcome and shared laughter and banter with her!
The tour takes place at sunset making it the ideal time for photography!
This tour is a great opportunity to learn a different history of Rome, to make great new friends, and to see the sights with new eyes! I loved the tour!
