This Rome Shore Excursion has been designed for those guests who wish to enjoy a complete overview of Rome. 1. Civitavecchia Port
This Rome shore excursion has been designed for those who wish to enjoy a complete overview of Rome. Escape the crowded bus tours on our semi-private (shared) excursion with a maximum of 8 passengers. You will go where large buses are not permitted, allowing you to see more, walk less, and capture the best of Rome. NOTE: This is a shared excursion with a MINIMUM NUMBER of passengers is required for the tour to run. KINDLY NOTE: Entry fees are NOT INCLUDED. We can arrange skip-the-line tickets upon request.
2. Piazzale Garibaldi
The Janiculum Hill is one of the best places in Rome to get a panoramic view of the church domes and bell towers of The Eternal City. In the piazza stands a statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, one of the central figures in the unification of Italy in the 19th Century.
3. Isola Tiberina
Tiberina Island is a tiny island located in the southern bend of the Tiber River. Associated with healing since ancient times, the island is still home to one of Rome's hospitals.
4. Arch of Constantine
One of several triumphal arches in Rome, the Arch of Constantine sits near the Colosseum and can be viewed without an entry fee.
5. Circus Maximus
Circus Maximus is an Ancient Roman chariot-racing stadium made famous in the movie "Ben Hur." Situated in the valley between the Aventine and Palatine Hills, it was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome and its later Empire.
6. Domus Augustana
The Domus Augustana was the royal palace of the Emperor Augustus. Set on the Palatine Hill, the emperor could watch the chariot races in the Circus Maximus from his home.
7. Teatro di Marcello
Teatro Marcello is an unusual architectural site in Rome. It was originally an arena in Ancient Rome, built in the later years of the Roman Republic. Fast forward many centuries and dwellings were built on top of the amphitheatre. Today, these apartments are some Rome's most expensive real estate, home to the well-heeled of The Eternal City.
8. Roman Forum
From the back side of the Capitoline Hill, take a trip back in time as you view the fascinating Roman Forum. This public space was the center of civic life in ancient times and contains the ruins of many important structures, including the Rostrum where Marc Antony gave his impassioned speech over the body of assassinated Julius Caesar.
9. Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II
The monument to Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy, is a gigantic monument in white marble, the center-piece of Piazza Venezia. Across the piazza is the balcony from which Mussolini gave his famous speeches during fascist times.
10. Trevi Fountain
Trevi Fountain is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world. The fountain has appeared in several notable films, most notably Federico Fellini's "La Dolce Vita."
11. Pantheon
A former Roman temple to all the gods, now a Catholic church, the Pantheon is a marvel of Roman engineering. You are sure to be fascinated by the coffered ceiling with is giant oculus (wide enough to lower a double-decker bus through!) KINDLY NOTE: Viewing the Pantheon from the exterior is free. As of July 2023, a ticket is required to visit the interior. The ticket costs 5 Euro. If you'd like to go inside the Pantheon, you can purchase your ticket on site.
12. Piazza Navona
Built on the site of the Stadium of Domitian in the 1st Century AD, this arena was later transformed into a plaza exemplifying Baroque-Roman architecture. It features important sculptural works in its three fountains. The most impressive stands in the center of the piazza: Bernini's beautiful Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers)
13. St. Peter's Square
At St. Peter's Square, you'll enjoy the expansive piazza lined by Bernini's elegant colonnades and Christendom's largest church. Time permitting, you can enter the basilica (in high season, lines to get through security and proper-apparel screening are usually very long). KINDLY NOTE: The Vatican Museums are not included in this excursion.

• This tour includes a professional English-speaking driver that gives commentaries from the vehicle.
• Due to strict Italian laws that protect licensed guides, drivers can only comment and explain the sights from inside the vehicle, and are not allowed to do so once they are outside the vehicle.
• Please note that if mass is taking place in the Basilica of St. Peters, entrance may be restricted. In high season, lines to enter the basilica can be very long. There is no fee to enter the church but shoulders and knees must be covered.
• MINIMUM NUMBERS apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.
• If you are not ready to depart at the assigned time , we cannot wait for you beyond a reasonable period of time, nor can we promise to fulfill the itinerary, nor promise to extend the duration of the tour.
• Order of stops may vary.
• This is a shared tour and you will be expected to maintain the pace of the group. If you have limited mobility we suggest booking a private tour for your best enjoyment.
• Being a shared tour, it's important to respect the time allotted at each stop by your driver. We kindly ask that you return to the vehicle at the appointed time so that we can stay on schedule.
• Children 0-5 years old must seat properly inside the vehicle. Please specify this detail if you have a child in the group so we can provide for a car seat.

Ricardo was very professional and punctual. He was very knowledgeable and knew the history. We were travelling with my dad who is 87 and Ricardo was very thoughtful, patient and caring. We also had a great lunch which we all enjoyed! I would definitely recommend Ricardo to our family and friends who wish to visit Rome. Thank you Ricardo for a great experience.

We had an awesome tour. Even though it was a Sunday and a race was blocking a lot of the central city area, our guide Nikola was the best. He knew the streets, the shortcuts, the shop owners and the restaurant staff. He set us up with all the right places and made our tour so much better. We had just gotten off a cruise ship at the port and the 8 passenger van was a nice vehcile for the eight of us. It would have been much more comfortable without all of our luggage, but Nikola was a packing wizard and got all of us and our 13 suitcases in and around the city without a worry. I would not recommend taking your bags along if you can avoid it. We didnt have a room in the city and were getting a rental van after the tour so we had to.

My family and I could not have been happier with our tour experience this past May! We booked a small group tour that included 8 people total. There were 6 in my family and we had another couple in our group as well. The van itself was clean, cool, and comfortable with tissues and water bottles if needed. Our tour guide, Ricardo, picked us up right outside our cruise ship and was very easy to find. I honestly feel the main reason our tour was so wonderful was because of the quality of our guide, Ricardo. He was personable, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. He clearly had such a passion for his city and was so eager to share it with us! He was incredibly knowledgeable regarding history and answered all of our questions. He also did an amazing job navigating the busy streets safely and getting us to each location on the itinerary while still ensuring we had time to wander/explore on our own. We even had time to stop for a quick lunch. Ricardo suggested we start with St. Peter’s square early in the day before the crowds became unmanageable, and because of this we were able to enter the square and see the Pope! This was incredibly memorable and one of my family’s favorite moments of the entire trip. In addition to taking us to the main sites, Ricardo showed us some beautiful lesser traveled areas that were still meaningful and very interesting to see. At the end of the day, he brought us back to our cruise terminal with plenty of time to spare.

Overall, I could not recommend this tour enough! It is the perfect option for anyone spending only one day in Rome coming from a cruise ship. I truly feel we were able to see so much more and learn so much more than if we had been on our own for the day. Not only that, it was completely stress free due to the quality of our tour guide! If you only have 1 day in Rome and are coming from a cruise ship, this is absolutely the best way to maximize your time! (And for a very fair price.)

We had a wonderful day seeing the sights in Rome with our tour guide Lucio. We wanted to pack in as many sights as we could & this tour was perfect. We weren’t interested in & didn’t have time for an in-depth tour so the quick stops at everything we wanted to see was super fun! Lucio was informative, personable, patient & very kind. Would highly recommend!

I took the small group Rome tour that I booked through shore excursions last week. The company “drivers in Rome” delivered a perfect day and experience. My driver, Frederick, was wonderful. I accidentally left my phone in the car when I was dropped off at my cruise ship. The manager Daniel assured me he would figure out a way to reunite me with the phone in Naples. In less than 24 hours he had my phone delivered to me and wanted nothing in return. Their customer service was the best I have experienced and I still can’t believe that they went so far out of their way for me. I cannot recommend this tour or company enough. They were amazing!

We had David as our tour guide through Rome and he was absolutely amazing. He talked to us the whole time. Gave us information that was very interesting towards each stop we did.
Took us to many interesting and historic sites that were just perfect. Provided us just enough time at each location to see and do what was needed without wasting time or cutting us off short.
Took us to a great restaurant for lunch and again it wasn’t just a generic place. It was authentic food to go along with our tour.
He was very personable, spoke like a person to us and answered all our questions.
I would highly recommend getting David as a tour guide.

This was a great tour - David was the best guide ever! He told us historical facts to stories about life in Rome today. With the small van, we could get close to the major attractions which worked out perfect since my husband has back issues and cannot walk great distances. You honestly cannot see Rome in one day, but we certainly got to see a lot - the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Navona Square, etc. We also stopped for lunch at one of David's favorite places for some authentic Italian food. Rome is very crowded but it was a fabulous day. I cannot recommend this tour enough.
