Chianti and San Gimignano - 2 Wineries with Pairing Lunch

My husband, myself and our two grown daughters in early 20s had the most wonderful experience at these Tuscan wineries. The Tour is run beautifully and our driver was knowledgeable & professional. The first winery is a small, family owned and operated and just gorgeous in every way.
It was a very personal experience being there and Niccola was exceptional. Our tastings were paired with beautiful nibbles from the region. The wines are gorgeous.
The second winery is a larger venue that caters to events etc. Here we had wines paired with a traditional Tuscan lunch. The food was delicious. This is a busier places with more groups present and a dining area more like a restaurant.
The drive through the Tuscan country side is breathtaking. Our brief stop for an hour in San Gimignano was very fun and the views from the top of the town are lovely and worth the trek up.
At the top I caught a glimpse of "Dante Allegheri" in full period garb reciting his poetry from his time in exile. I wish we had more time in this beautiful walled town but it's worth the peek and inspired us to see more of Tuscany.
We recommend this tour highly. It's worth every penny and the tour company is excellent !

Our guide, Stefan, was wonderful: profession and personable. Very much enjoyed the whole experience. Lunch was so more than expected. Great food and wine!

My husband and I took this tour during our honeymoon and it was absolutely wonderful! Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, the wineries and the wines were some of the best we have ever tasted and visited. Tours of Tuscany is truly the best! If you were looking for a review to convince you to book this tour, this is it! Tours of Tuscany can tailor a trip just for you or you can take one of their already planned out tours. Truly an incredible experience I will remember for a lifetime!

Our tour with Tours of Tuscany was our party's favorite part of our time in Tuscany. The professionalism and ease was experienced right from the beginning. From planning- Sylvia was very responsive and answered all my questions. She helped me design a tour that would work for us. To the day of: We were picked up in a timely manner by the pleasant, knowledgeable, warm Niccolo. He was not only a driver, but a true guide to the area and the wineries we were about to visit. He taught our group about what it meant to be Chianti classico, and the nuances between the different certifications. He was so easy to talk to and didn't make us feel like novices, even though we were. He also suggested the best gelato we had on our entire trip, during our stop in San Gimignano. We will all dream of that gelato for many moons to come! Our tasting and lunch at the 2nd winery were delicious and a perfect cap to a beautiful day. Do not hesitate to contact them and book an itinerary that works for your group. They had great suggestions and were very flexible. We hope to come back one day soon and try another tour. Our driver and tourguide Keeko was terrific—-knowledgeable and safe driver. Host for the tasting w lunch was amazing. Winery choices all excellent. Gorgeous scenery…what we anticipated for Tuscany.Would highly recommend this tour for all ages. Beware winding roads and some rough terrain if your prone to motion sickness.

We had the MOST amazing day with Niccolo as our guide. The 6 of us in our party visited 2 amazing wineries and spent a bit of time in San Gimignano as well. Niccolo was informative and very patient (we asked a LOT of questions). We could not have asked for a better day. Thanks, Niccolo, for the wonderful memories!!

We highly recommend Tours of Tuscany. Booking was quick and easy via email. Niccolo was prompt, communicative, and professional. There were 4 people total on our tour. In addition to selecting two excellent wineries (one smaller and one larger) he was a wealth of information about the customs and culture of winemaking and of the region. While this tour was more expensive than the others we considered, I am very glad we booked with this family owned business as the quality of the service provided was exceptional.

Very comfortable transportation in a Mercedes Benz V250d van seating 8 people with aircon. Our driver Fabrizzio was very friendly. Booking the tour via email was easy. Payment can be made via international bank transfer or credit card or cash, Alexandra and Niccolo replied to our initial email enquiry within 24 hrs. First tasting was at Lornano winery and included 5 variatels. The host was very accommodating and allowed us to try a 6th wine of our choice. The visit included a tour of the cellar and a description of the wine making process. The Le Bandite is recommended. The 1 hour visit to San Gimignano was sufficient to visit Gelateria Dondole, the main square and laneways and scenic viewpoints over the Tuscan countryside. The lunch was at Tenuta Torciano with wine pairing. This included tasting 8 varietals. The food was excellent, including the home style lasagna. Vegetarian choices were available on request. Include your dietary preferences when making your booking. Do appreciate that traffic back to Florence can be congested. The trip back from Tenuta Torciano winery was expected to take 1 hr but took 1h45m due to road work. Our tour pickup time was 9am and we arrived back at central Florence at 5pm.

When we booked this tour was to visit 3 wineries. Our ticket showed up saying 2. Said our driver would take us down chanti road and explain history. Our driver looked like he just rolled out of bed, wearing jeans and shirt he slept in. Rather than telling us about the area, he texted while driving, and looked at photos that someone sent him. Our 2 hour free time in San Gimignano was 25min granted there was a LOT of traffic so it took a while to get to the town. We couldn’t get the worlds best gelato due to the long line and again we had to be back in the van in 25 min, which you barely got to the store let along wait in line. We got to the second winery and we’re rushed through the tastings. They poured 3 glasses at a time. Served the food and told to tastes each wine with each thing on your plate. They came back to clear plates and to pour the next three glasses. They told us to empty the glass so they could pour the next ones…. This was supposed to be relaxing and pairing but they rushed us. The last wine was a rose. The lady next to me didn’t finish or empty the glass prior and the server just poured the rose over her red! We were the only people in the tasting at the time and we couldn’t figure out why they were rushing our group of 7. They had a large group come in before we were finished and that is why they were rushing us. The wine was good but so not worth the money and so not like the utube video about the tour. It was nothing like they said in the details.
