Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.

Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.

We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.

The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.

As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.

We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.

After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

Courtney and Ron were great guides. Both were very knowledgeable about the area, history, geology, etc. Courtney was our guide and she would do anything, except drive through the mud 😄 She was fun and goofy, which was awesome. We got to see most of the great arches.

The TERRIBLE ride cramped into a space that was WAY too small for 3 people - no way to move - had bad cramps in my legs. You put 4 people into a 4X4 vehicle which really had only room for 2 people. The tour was TERIBLE. All we did was drive over terrible "roads" to see some tracks and about 3 arches - at least 2 of which we could have seen by driving our car there on real roads - as many people did. The ONLY good thing was the 4X4 driver who had extensive knowledge about the area and provide us with a LOT of information. He was very friendly and as helpful as he could be, given your "stuffing" us unacceptably into his vehicle. We would NEVER recommend this tour to anyone!!!

We shared a 4x4 with another couple, 4 of us total. Our guide, Abby, was excellent. The trip started into the park by a side road for 4x4 vehicles only. Really exciting really rough road. Abby was quite young but seemed very experienced driver. She was also a fountain of knowledge about the park. One thing I learned was about these "cryptobiologic" places: look like lumpy dirt but turn out to be conglomeration of microorganisms that are like an interface between rock and higher life forms and essential for the higher life forms (plants and animals). Good reason to stay on the trails or rock surfaces! We visited a lot of the park that can only be accessed by 4x4 vehicle. Even if you have a 4x4 vehicle, I think it would be difficult for people who don't know their way around the park. Highly recommend!

Really nice mix of seeing everything from dinasour tracks, all the famous arches to remote locations with some walking. Best guide and my sons was very entertained by the off-road drive as well. Superfint!

This is the first 1-star review I've ever written. I'm not a complainer. Several of the other 1-star reviews are spot-on, but there was also something "fundamentally" wrong that I'll cover at the end. 1) Our tour guide, Chad, was late. We were 15 minutes early as instructed (7:45). We got picked up at 8:20. The hotel lobby gal: "Oh yeah, Navtec? They are always late." 2) It was 100+ outside (expected), the A/C in the jeep couldn't keep up. We ran with the windows open most of the time. Chad mentioned this was the newest jeep - 155,000 miles on it and the rest are worse. 3) This was a cramped jeep for 3 passangers + guide. I'm 5' 11", another fellow was about 6'. We had our knees in our chests for 4 hours. It's really bumpy (expected, but it's bad - get ready). 4) We almost never stopped. We sailed right by some great places to see and take pictures and kept right on moving. Half-way through Chad offered to stop anytime we wanted, but you could tell there was a preference to not stop. If you only have time for one Arches tour, TOUR THE FRONT of the park by yourself or on a well-run tour. Now, I took no stars off for the above although to be honest, given the price and the way Navtec runs the tour; it's a 2 star experience. Here is why for nearly everyone, this tour is wildly out of order - I'll describe the problem simply by quoting Chad, word-for-word. You decide if this is okay. "This was an ocean less than 7,000 years ago." "This was all changing during Noah's time." "I don't know how old these dinosaur tracks are, I haven't read about it," (this was after Chad saw all four of us roll our eyes at the 7,000 year-old "fact") "When I meet the creator I want to ask him how he made the Southwest." "Without faith you are in big trouble." FYI - the dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago and Arches park was formed between 75 million and 150 million years ago. The biblical version was presented as fact without even a nod to the fact that different people can see it different ways. Pathetic. Is this just Chad, or is this the Navtec company view of how to present the world to others? I don't know.

Ron was an excellent guide and the tour off road through Arches was an amazing gift. We entered the old entrance & saw Dinosaur tracks & learned all about them & their journey. We then travel to amazing Arches we’d never see on our own. Ron was knowledgeable, fun, friendly and very engaging. His experience shared was fabulous. I recommend this company, this tour and Ron as your guide. He took fantastic care of us and we’d do it again. Thank you for a day we’ll never forget.

Cody was our guide and was excellent. He took us on several back trails and we saw dinosaur tracks and arches that were not accessible by a regular vehicle. We also toured arches that were accessible by the normal park road. A very enjoyable experience and Cody provided lots of information and also cold water and snacks.
