Budapest's first food tour (est. 2008!) introduces Hungarian food and wine culture through classic flavors, unique wines, history, and stunning architecture. You'll get a taste of the traditional side of Hungarian cuisine, and the modern artisan producers and specialty shops spicing up Budapest’s food scene. Beginning at the Central Market—Budapest’s cathedral of food—we’ll introduce you to Hungarian cuisine through the abundance of ingredients. We'll discuss the building, Hungary's eating and drinking culture, special dishes … and just what Hungarian cooks do with all the pork fat, paprika, and goose liver. Here we’ll taste a selection of foods (and have an aperitif to fortify us). After a lunch feast at a traditional butcher, we’ll sample the elegant cakes that Hungarian bakers are known for at a classic coffeehouse. We'll visit an award-winning chocolatier, and finish with a sommelier led tasting of 3 great local wines (including Tokaji aszú) paired with artisan cheese. Come hungry!

Eszter was an amazing guide and extremely informative! Make sure that you don't eat before you go as you get so much food on this tour. Others in
our group had food allergies and dietary restrictions and she was prepared with plenty of alternatives for everyone. Highly recommend this tour!!

We loved our walking and food tour with Angela. She was so kind and knowledgeable. It was truly the highlight of our time in Budapest! We started with a wine tasting and appetizers at the Taste Hungary Wine shop. Then walked on to savory pastries, a pub for local beer, a Hungarian dinner with more wine tastings, local liquor in a charming courtyard and ended with delicious dessert and live piano in a beautiful coffee house. Highly recommend!

This was one of the best food tours I did!! So much delicious food, it was completely worth the money. It was a mix of sweet and salty and mostly traditional food. I can’t recommend this enough if you’re looking for a food tour in Budapest. Go hungry!!

Andres was an awesome “Hungarian Grandma” and made sure we were stuffed with delicious Hungarian food. It was the highlight of our trip. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

There was only me, a mother and daughter pair, and our amazing tour guide Charlotte on the tour and it felt like a fabulous ladies’ day out. The tour was able to accommodate me as a vegetarian and the others who did not eat pork. Even though meat, especially pork is a huge part of Hungarian cuisine, we still had a full day of deliciousness.
I learned so much along the way and it felt like being shown around by a friend. We had langosh, Unicom, strudel, a chocolate covered cheesecake kind of thing, pickles, cold raspberry soup (it was like a rich smoothie in a bowl), paprika mashed potatoes, cheese that had been grilled until crisp on the outside, some breaded vegetables, mixed picked salad, a very interesting noodle dish that was covered with sugar and walnuts, three kinds of cake, three more kinds of cheese, and three wines.
The pace was good and we were walking around over 4 hours so it didn’t feel like too much. Charlotte also had a little knife so that we could divide things up and share to taste more things. We chatted with several market vendors and they clearly knew and loved Charlotte as well.
Highly highly recommend this tour!! It was so good and so fun, I would do the exact same tour again if I am lucky enough to return to Budapest someday.

Our guide was fantastic!!! Her name was Orsi (pronounced orshe), but i might be spelling it wrong. 😬 A lot of tastings were had! Lots of choices and good amounts too. All tailored to the group of people actually there at the time. I absolutely loved it!! 🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺

Anna was an amazing tour guide of culinary Budapest. The places we went were beautiful, the food and wine were wonderful, and Anna gave us an excellent overview of the City and culture. We highly recommend her and this tour, and now plan to do a food/wine tour of every new city we visit.
