With a mix of cultural influences on the nation's cuisine, it's no wonder that Malaysian food is a lip-smackingly complex beast.
We'll meet in the old district of Chow Kit and Kampung Baru, one of the last remaining districts that is yet to be developed into glassy high rises.
Don't expect other foreigners. Stroll in this local neighbourhood of nightly street eats, sampling a variety of 15+ tastings, carefully curated for their culinary history.
The flavours change across the year, but highlights include the fragrant bowls of laksa, hand stretched rotis, nasi lemak with piquant sambal and herbal chicken rendang, charcoal-grilled mackerel, and soothing iced cendol with custard-like durian. We'll end with a fine view of the mighty Petronas Twin Towers.
I'm sure you have a lot of your plate, but here's some food for thought. While it's possible to attempt such a culinary marathon yourself, you'd be one sandwich short of a Malaysian picnic not to join me on our moveable food feast.

Sam was a lovely guy and very informative of all we ate and where we went. All of our tastings were good - stand outs for me - Me Goreng Mama, Cendol w Durian was a 1st !! Really enjoyed Malaysian fruits to start, Laksa w seafood broth, Grilled Mackerel with “ special “ sambal and the mango drink w condensed milk was a refreshing end ( to 15 very decent tastings !!! ). We had a group of 7 who were from around the world which made it even more interesting. I have been on Tours with this company all over Asia and would definitely recommend.

Cannot recommend this group and tour highly enough!! I had originally booked the group tour but needed to change the day before because our flight was changed. I was in touch with A Chef's Tour directly and within less than one day we were able to arrange a private tour with a time that worked for us. Everyone was so communicative and incredibly friendly. And that wasn't even the best part. The food - the true star. The tour was so much fun and we were completely stuffed. You really do get to try everything along the way and get the best tastes of Malaysia. Thank you Siddoz - you were wonderful and we learned a ton! Will definitely be back, and just sorry we didn't have a chance to do all the tours in Malaysia. : )

My tour was led my Kiran. She was an amazing guide, we learned so much about the city, how it’s evolved over her lifetime here, and shared many fun moments. I got to try durian, but my favorite dish was Mee Goreng Mamak. I am so grateful for my group and would highly recommend booking a tour.

I went on this tour with my 2 teenage children. We all had a fabulous time and Kiran, our host, gave us so much background on the food, as well as local culture and history. As it was a small group we all got to know each other quickly, which made it even more enjoyable. The tour covers small local places that I would never have known about or found on my own. We highly recommend it!

This tour was all we were looking for and more. We tasted the most amazing and truly authentic array of foods, finishing the night full and contented.
Kiran was an amazing guide talking us through not just the foods we were sampling but also the history of the areas we were in.
If you always wanted to try the local street food but were daunted by the decision , what and from where, then this is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the food scene.
We would definitely recommend this tour
