1. Palazzo di Diocleziano

2. Vestibulum of Diocletian's Palace
Vestibule or the hall of Diocletian's apartments served as an integral part of the ceremonial access to the Emperor.
3. Cathedral of Saint Domnius
The cathedral in Split is accommodated in the former mausoleum of the emperor Diocletian, a monumental building from the 4th century. Built of massive stone blocks, the 24 m high mausoleum dominates teh central area if the palace.
4. The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace
A ceremonial entrance court, framed on both sides by monumental arcades and oriented towards the imperial loggia. Admire the stunning colonnaded square, one of the most beautiful ones on the Mediterranean.
5. Green Market
Where do locals buy their fruit and vegetables? The best cheese and prosciutto? It is at this lively market that you experience a true local life.
6. The Golden Gate
Golden Gate, i.e. the northern gate is, the most prominent of all four gates of the palace. A little church of St. Martin was built into the very gate in the 5th century.
7. Grgur Ninski Statue
The statue is the work of one of the most famous Croatian sculptors -Ivan Mestrovic. The bronze statue depicts Grgur Ninski, the bishop from the beginning of the 10th century. Rub its toe for good luck!
8. City Clock
Built into the western gate of the palace the clock is today among the most recognizable city's landmarks.
9. Fruit's Square (Trg Brace Radic)
One of the most picturesque squares just outside the palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian. Learn about Marko Marulić, the father of Croatian literature whose statue is in the middle of the square.
10. Venetian tower
Fruit Square is dominated by the remains of the 15th century Venetian castle
11. Prokurative
Prokurative or as it is officially called, Republic Square resembles the Venice St. Marks Square. The square is located west of the Riva and was named after the arches found on the neo-Renaissance buildings surrounding the square on three sides. Most people to this day know it by that name. The square is only open on the south side, providing a beautiful view of the harbour and the Riva (waterfront).
12. Riva Harbor
Considered the most beautiful promenade in Croatia, it is a meeting point of both locals and our visitors. Here we start and end our tour.

We thought the guide was informative, but we did a different tour today which was better and gave us more information we missed out on yesterday that we feel should have been included. The guide was efficient but not engaging.

Very now was a very knowledgeable, interesting guide. She welcomed questions and opportunities to delve deeper into to Split’s amazing history. In the days since the tour we have recalled many people interesting facts she told us. It has made our week so n Split all the more enriched.

My wife and adult children arrived in Split with the intent of just walking the historic old town. We had several mediocre walking tours with Viking at previous ports and didn’t see the value of another. Perhaps a more personalized tour was the better option. With short notice, Jelena accommodated us and brought Split alive to our family of six. Her vibrant personality, in-depth knowledge and personal experiences made for a fascinating and memorable tour. Beyond the informative Diocletian’s Palace tour, we tasted local chocolate, Soparnik and fresh grapes at the farmer’s market. We met in the morning as strangers and left in the afternoon as friends. A fantastic tour. Jelena was so knowledgeable and attentive. She explained the history and architecture in interesting and varied ways, and choose great places to stop and show us the city. Jelena helped us with our lunch reservation and also pointed out places to go in Split for genuine local food and arts and crafts. A very enjoyable few hours. Highly recommended.

Wonderful tour for both adults and kids. Jelena was knowledgeable and her teaching experience helped create an instant connection with the little ones. She found spots along the way to keep us in the shade and made shopping in the market fun for everyone. The whole experience felt like an outing with Mary Poppins!

She also helped 13 of us secure transportation from Split to Dubrovnik in two new Mercedes Vans with great drivers. We will definitely recommend her and can’t wait for our next trip to Croatia.
