We loved this excursion. Luis F. was our guide - he is knowledgeable and friendly. He went above and beyond to make our day enjoyable. We went to Tulum, then enjoyed a Mexican lunch, followed by zip lining, repelling, and swimming in a cenote. Luis was with us for it all, and we enjoyed his company.

Honestly,

Tour Guide Andres Santiago 5/5 Best Tour Guide Ever
Cenotes 5/5
Zip Line 5/5
Snorkeling 5/5

Where it got me was the ATV’s. I KNOW there is collision optional insurance, but the guy showing the demonstration maybe said it 10 times (not exaggerating) about what happens IF you don’t get the insurance. How optional is it really? I mean, excursions are already 150-200 dollars so what’s 25 more bucks? It’s 25 bucks that the demo guy is trying to pressure you and scaring you into getting, is what makes this so piss poor.

What really ticked me was the demo guy telling me “I should trash my paper” that I already signed and declined insurance and he can get me another one. You, Maya Aventuras Demonstration Guy, are telling me to throw away my signed rejection of insurance paper and sign one so I can pay the $25. Looked me in the eye and told me “you never know you never know, i’m trying to tell you what COULD happen” I told him the ATV’s only go up to roughly 25 miles an hour and it’s follow the leader so not a lot of risk in those 30-40 minutes. He tells me “some ATV’s go all the way” DUDE STOP LYING

It made me believe that Maya Aventura was going to purposely do something to the ATV since I didn’t get collision insurance so I had to video my ATV before and after to avoid all that. I shouldn’t have to do that and you shouldn’t try to force OPTIONAL collision insurance on me.

Wow! So glad we committed to this experience! Jaime, our guide, was amazing and SO informative the whole time. Appreciate his patience and ability to answer a lot of questions we had. We enjoyed the zip lining and the ruins hut the highlight of this tour was the cenote. And that he was with us the whole time was great! Shared a lot of the history of the Mayan land and culture. Lunch was exceptional - we have been to a lot of excursions in the past and thought this was the best! Really worth the price in my opinion.

This trip package was everything we needed and more! Instead of a cramped bus picking us up and 100s of others and spending hours on a bus, a small van picked up us and one other family. We were then brought to a "meeting point" where our guide Luis drove us and one other family to our first stop in Tulum in a comfortable and air conditioned van. Luis was very knowledgable and on the short drive to Tulum gave us a history of Tulum and the Yucatan Peninsula. Tulum was incredible and again Luis gave us a brief history tour and then we were able to explore the ruins on our own for about 45 minutes. It is HOT and there is minimal shade so I recommend sunglasses, hats, and water bottles. Once back on the van (where water bottles were provided) we arrived at the Adventuras Maya base camp which is in the heart of the jungle. The zip lining experience was also incredible, getting to zip high above the trees for about an hour going to different platforms. There are lots of stairs involved so bring good shoes and a good attitude. We then rappelled down to the forest floor from one of the platforms, which was fun, but definitely more of an opportunity to get pictures (which you can pay for at the end.) We had lunch and went to our final activity which was the best of all. In a cave cenote, Luis took us back in time in history and explained their initial purposes and how they helped ancient peoples settle in the area and the Yucatan Peninsula in general. The water was cold, so again, bring a good attitude and appreciate the absolute wonder that are the stalagmite and stalactites that line the cave. Overall, this was such an enjoyable trip and I would recommend this to anyone with a full day to spend doing back to back activities. Thank you Luis and the Adventuras Mayas staff!

Overall, this trip was good. The zip lining, swimming in the cenote and touring the Mayan temples in Tulum were amazing. Although there were some BIG things I would have changed to make it better.
One, our van did not have air conditioning. Being in Mexico, driving an hour from our resort in a van without A/C was horrible. One of the girls on our trip had to lie down with cooling rags on her because she got so sick in the van from the heat.
Two, the guided tour part of Tulum went far too long. We had 90 minutes there total. The first 45 minutes were led by a tour guide but not walking around the ruins, instead we stopped multiple times on the walk there (about 10 minute walk that turned into 25 minute walk) talking about trees and plants. Once in the area with the ruins, our guide talked for another 15 minutes and did not let us go explore. We were totally rushed and only had about 20 minutes on our own to run through the ruins and try to make it back to the bus on time.
Three, the drive home took 2.5 hours in standstill traffic… in a van with no A/C. That was brutal. The estimated time for this trip says 6 hours… we got picked up at 7:30AM and did not arrive back to the resort until 6:00PM. Again, brutal.

The actual excursions were worth the money and the experience of them were wonderful, but the commuting, the delayed time of our return and the being rushed through the Mayan ruins were very disappointing.

We just back from a excursion that was supposed to be 1/2 day. We left our resort at 8:10am and didn’t get back til almost 7pm.
This was one of the most unorganized tours services I have ever experienced.
We left at 8:10 or so then had to stop to 1 more resort to pick up about 10 more passengers… no big deal. Then they took us all to their headquarters where we had to wait at least 30 minutes to figure out where and why we were going with. We switched vans. After a 50 min ride we finally arrived at Tulum where the tour was about 45 min long. We only had about 20 min to walk around and take pictures. It felt rush… remember we had wasted 30 min at their headquarters.
Tulum was good only because our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly and because we love learning about Mayan history, we had visited other ruins in the past and wanted to do Tulum.
We made it back, we were rushed to go to the next location…to have lunch then to ride the ATV’s and then cenote. Well lunch was average… chicken, pulled pork, rice, beans and tortillas… with Jaima or orange juice.
The locker the give you it’s the size of a shoe box lol 😂 we had to ask for an extra locker.
We finally head down to ride ATV’s, we’ll after a 25 min talk about how to use one and then 15 min talk about buying g insurance in case you damage the thing… we were told we had to wait because there was sn accident on the trail… we waited again 15-20 min finally I talked to the guide in Spanish hey can we do the cenote then ride ATV’s after? He assured us we had enough time to do everything… at this point was already 2:30pm! Remember we were picked up at 8:10am and it was 2:30 and we had only done Tulum for 60 min. This was so unorganized… finally they said we could get on the ATV’s. The trail was so rough and dry and under construction we were up and down the same path 3 times. We almost ran out of gas!!!
We ride fir 30 min then went to the caverns/cenote. It was refreshing once again our tour guide was good… but the experience it delft felt overpriced for what we got… it was not what the resort people “sold us” if you would say. Save your money and go to XELHA OR XCARET! Oh yeah we made it back at almost 7pm. And we have dinner reservations at 8pm! We were told we would be back by 4-4:30 bahahaha…

We had a great trip. We were picked up from our resort by Jaime who took great care of us all day. We really enjoyed snorkeling in the wonderful underground cave, it cooled us off nicely after flying through the jungle. The zip lines were great, we really enjoyed the super man and hammock zip lines. The tour or the ruins at Tulum was hot but very interesting. Jaime gave us lots of great information and the views were spectacular. We thought this experience offered a nice variety of activities and was good value. The food include after our cave snorkel was delicious!

This was an absolute highlight of our vacation! We were picked up on time by Luis F. (best tour guide ever!), we made a couple of stops for more people and headed out into the trees! I loved how the adventure location was not overly "touristy" looking and was really deep in the trees. (That said, the facilities were well maintained.) The ziplines were a blast, and the staff all the way through were helpful and friendly and safety oriented. I never felt unsafe. The cenote was beautiful, and I appreciated how Luis stressed not wearing sunscreen, bug spray, etc. in the water and really explained the history and ecology of the space. (He also helped get this claustrophobe through the smaller cave portion.) Lunch was delicious. And while we were asked if we wanted to buy our photos, there was no hard pressure sell. After changing into dry clothes, we were then taken down to Tulum for some great information on the history of the area, and then some time to walk around. I would recommend this adventure to anyone!
