A brilliant (long) day trip from Tbilisi. The tour takes you to Stepantsminda, almost on the Russian border. En route you stop off at the Zhinvali Reservoir and the enchanting Ananuri fortress. But the highlight of the trip for us was a drive off-road up the Truso valley where we were able to do short hike in the stunning mountain-ringed valley. Some beautiful wild flowers - gentians and orchids amongst others. Plus some fascinating sulphur ponds and mineral-streaked rocks. Our guide Johan had perfect English and brought to life the sometimes turbulent history of the area along with insights into modern Georgia. My two sons (15 & 22) enjoyed the day as much as I did so it was a good family choice of outing. Note: the drive up the valley is seriously off-road - a real bone-shaker and you need a reasonable level of fitness for the walk.

You get all the stops the big companies take you to PLUS Truso valley and an incredibly kind and dedicated tour guide. Definitely the best tour I took in Georgia. Thanks Koba!

Highly recommended trip over other Kazbegi tours. First this is small group and we got to travel just three of us, so felt like private tour. Also this tour includes Truso valley, which was highlight of all tour, orher stops were just ok and very touristy, especially Gergeti trinity church, for which i had highest expectations.

We were just my wife and me, a brilliant english speaking guide named Koda and the marvelours driver Arche.
We were picket up from our appartment at 8 am, startet det drive against Truso Valley and Kazbegi.
On the way the Guide Kode gave us brilliant information about the history, and policy of Georgia.
On the way we stoppet to see fine wiews and some very nice historical placis.
For instance the Ananouri Fortress Complexe near Zhinvali Water Reservoir.
We also had time for a short lunch, before we arrived to Truso Valley.
We vent ofroad 5-7 km. Into the this astonnishing valley, left the car, together with Koda, and hiket in the valley for about an hour and a half.
From there we drove to Stephansminde, and visitit the Gergeti Trinity Church.
From there the long ride back startet, but had time for a short stop for dinner on the way back.
We vere back in our appartment at aruond 8.00 pm.

The tour was wonderful. We visited beatiful views ans spots. Koba, our guide was very nice and attentive, matched the plan according to our wills and pace. Sharef a lot of interesting ingormation about the sites and georgia.

I really enjoyed the tour a lot! It was a unique experience.
It was great to be able to see so much in a day. And the Truso Valley was an exceptional experience! Jonah was a very good guide - funny, kind, smart! He took such good care of us, making sure the whole time that everybody is well and that we all get the best experience out of it. I loved how passionate he is about history! But then at the same time never overwhelming us with too much information. I also liked that he was giving us some free time for ourselves at the bigger stops as well, which I find very important to be able to absorb the places.
Can definitely highly recommend the friendly tours!

Before booking on their direct site make sure to check on other platforms. I found the exact same tour they sold me a few days before available also on GetYourGuide.com with a significant discount (20€ less). If you ask them for clarification and to get the same rate they are going to cancel your reservation with very short notice (and of course when the tour at more convenient price is already sold out!) 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
