The Palace of Holyroodhouse is Edinburgh’s Royal Palace, it is His Majesty The King’s official residence in Scotland and is used by The King and members of the Royal Family for State ceremonies and official entertaining. With 900 years of Scottish royal history, the Palace of Holyroodhouse stands at the foot of the Royal Mile against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur’s Seat.

A visit to the Palace includes the Historic Apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots, which were the setting for many dramatic episodes in her short and turbulent reign, including the brutal murder of her Italian secretary, David Rizzio, by her husband, Lord Darnley. Her Bedchamber has been described as 'the most famous room in Scotland.

Walking around the palace on our own, but being able to listen to the audio tape as we went. It was very well marked as to where you were.

I loved this palace! The audio was great and had good information. The kids loved the family room to play in. The gardens and the church ruins were beautiful.

Excellent visit. Well worth the trip. The tour was well planned and executed with effective efficiency. Interesting, historical, messages and stories from the royal family and staff.

A very interesting place to visit. Audio Guide was very helpful. Simple palace, nice garden, a true piece of history! We went there on a sunny morning and spent over 2 hours.

This is an interesting place to look around. It is still visited by the King and is used for state occasions as well as private use. There is a useful audio/video guide that is offered free at the entrance. This is good, it gives just sufficeint information without being too much. The decoration inside is obviously elaborate.

The palace was very interesting for its relationship to history both distant and recent.
The grounds are beautiful and worth going to just for them. Highly recommend

The tour of the Palace of Holyroodhouse was very informative and enjoyable. Recommend this type in addition to a Royal Mile tour and a tour of Edinburgh Castle to complete your experience.

The palace is beautiful and the views from the beginning and the gardens at the end are lovely. So many lovely photos opportunities, but pictures are not to be taken inside the palace itself. (There are signs to tell you when you can't take any). 2 little gift shops and staff are nice too. They also offer virtual tour guides for your trip through the palace. If you ask them to at the end they can also validate your ticket (free of charge) so you don't pay to enter if you return within 12 months!

We really enjoyed the tour—good way to experience a historically relevant place in Edinburgh. The self guided room by room aspect of the tour made things smooth and impactful.
