The Royal Mews is one of the finest working stables in the world and is responsible for all road travel arrangements for His Majesty The King and members of the Royal Family. It is home to the royal collection of historic coaches and carriages used in State and ceremonial occasions, such as The King's coronation, royal weddings and Trooping the Colour.

During your visit, you will see the Diamond Jubilee State Coach. This beautiful coach incorporates items from over 100 historic sites across Britain, including the Royal Yacht Britannia, 10 Downing Street and HMS Victory.

A highlight of a visit to the Royal Mews includes the Gold State Coach, used in every monarch’s coronation since 1821. The coach is covered almost entirely in real gold lead, weighs almost four tonnes and needs eight horses to pull it.

The Royal Mews is also home to the Windsor Greys and Cleveland Bays, The King’s horses that pull the coaches and carriages. You may see some of the horses during your visit.

Amazing to view the carriages and learn more about them. If you are in the area worth taking an hour to audio tour. Not overly crowed. Keep in mind you likely will not see but one or two hours this time of year there.

Go to the Horse Guard Parade grounds to see guards chasing.

Very nice to look around there. There were two horses when we were there.
All kinds of beautiful carriages and the golden carriage were great to admire up close. The audio tour makes it even more interesting.
Also fun and educational for children.
About an hour/an hour and a half then you have seen everything.

Located just a stone's throw from Buckingham Palace, the Royal Mews are more than just a place to park the royal carriages; they represent a living and fascinating part of British royal history and traditions. This is a rare opportunity to delve into British royal history, seeing sumptuous carriages up close.

As soon as I arrived, I was welcomed by a warm and well-informed team who knew how to convey their passion for this unique place (reception staff, supervisors, guides). The tour route is well designed, with explanatory panels. The (free) audio guide is essential; it immerses visitors in history and anecdotes.

The Royal Mews is home to an impressive collection of carriages and carriages, each with its own story to tell. Unlike many museums, the Mews are still in operation and play a vital role in official events of the British monarchy. Among the centerpieces, the Gold State Coach, used during coronations and major state ceremonies, is absolutely breathtaking.

Very nice museum and a tour of the stables, carriages and cars of the monarch. Birds of prey used to be at home here too. Some horses were here (last time there were a lot more). The most important carriages, including the coronation carriage and the cars in which the royals drive through the city.
Well worth seeing
