Maru was an amazing guide. We were his first group for this Secret Food Tour. He's a seasoned guide. But this particular type of tour was his first foray into this genre of tour. I would never have known that this was his first tour. Maru was extremely knowledgeable of the different types of food, not only in its preparation, but the history of the food as well. The food was delicious. There's no question about that. But Maru made the experience of eating so much for more mindful; elevating the tour from eating to an experience. To give us even greater context, we stopped at farmers' markets where the food was sourced. In addition, Maru took us to some Shinto shrines to give us even greater cultural context into the food tour.

Tomoyo led our tour and she was fantastic! Visited a number of places that were very authentic and that we would never have found by ourselves. Also there were a few cultural points of interest along the tour that she pointed out which were very interesting. A very nice insight into the local culture which I would highly recommend. If you only do one tour in Osaka, do this one!

Akiko was a great guide, super friendly and full of knowledge! We hit up a number of stalls/restaurants as well as stopping in places you would not normally think of without a guide (shop for local beer, tea stall for some tea, local workers pub for drinks snacks, and a temple for some peach juice). Really opened our eyes to the variety of food and drink in Osaka. Akiko really went the extra mile and spent longer than she had to explaining the history of the area as well as the food. When she found out it was our honeymoon she even secretly bought us a little gift and gave it to us at the end. Highly recommend if in Osaka and have any interest in food or drinks or history!

Akiko was the best guide we have ever had and we have done many tours. A truly wonderful human with lots of local knowledge and appreciation for good honest food provided by real local people, art of real cooking so fast disappearing in today’s world.
Great format of a tour, the right amount of delicious food, culture and drink! I’d recommend to go for a drinks package . If you are hesitating , don’t , just book it. If you are lucky, you will get lovely Akiko ! A & N

This was a great tour in a less touristy part of Osaka, with loads of restaurants, shops and stalls frequented by locals. Terumi's aka "Terry" was excellent in providing the food experiences and context and explanations about regular, everyday local life. Make sure to skip breakfast that day!

Akiko was fantastic! Right off the bat Akiko realized I was wearing a very heavy backpack and helped me find a storage locker at a subway station to store it while we walked around. I got to try a lot of unique and local spots as well as anything that intrigued me off the marketplace we wondered around. Some of my favorites were fried tempura seaweed, taiyaki - which I love, craft beer, an adorable matcha shop, we even had an opportunity to win some free sake pour at a bar that participating in a contest outside. There was fun to do a standup bar with the Saturday crowd getting various beer and plates. I tried whale which I've never had before and I'm always down to try everything.

The entire trip felt like it was walking around exploring new areas or foods and it was the highlight of my Japan tour, and why Osaka is called Japan's Stomach. If you love food and want something off the beaten path, this is the tour to do. Anything can happen and that's what makes it unique.

Our family got to see Osaka with the eyes (and tastebuds) of a local, Ms. Terumi. We had lots to eat. We suggest reorganizing the sequence of the food stops to phase ourselves with the food because halfway in the tour we were so full we can no longer eat the mochi and takoyaki.
