We had a fabulous tour with Erbil - 5 stars from us - we had done one of your tours in Lisbon 2 weeks ago and loved so booked this. It did not disappoint- lots of interesting info, tons of delicious food - we really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone. Erbil was a great guide.

An excellent tour. We were lucky that there was just one other person on the tour with us so we had lots of time for Q&A. Our guide, Melis, was lovely and very knowledgeable and covered lots of items outside of the food, such as history, culture and general life in Turkey etc.
As stated in other reviews, have a VERY light breakfast before the tour as the food is delicious and you will not want to leave any.
Following the tour we tried a few of the items on the following days of our hols and were glad to have found out about them.

We took the half day lunch tour. Our guide Melis made the experience very interesting and entertaining. We tried a variety of Turkish food that we wouldn’t otherwise have experienced. We followed Melis’ recommendations and had a great experience in both restaurants we tried. Would recommend this tour as a great way to see part of Istanbul and taste some delicious food

Melis was a wonderful host - she shared a great amount of knowledge, and provided us with a wide array of great ears and drinks! Highly recommend as an introduction to the Kadikoy neighborhood!

This tour was an absolute highlight of my time in Istanbul. I definitely got a good understanding of Turkish cuisine and all the different influences across different regions. The food was delicious and I loved getting out of the traditional tourist areas and experiencing life with a local. Would highly recommend this fun, delicious and informative tour… just arrive with an empty stomach and a big appetite!

We did the spice tour with Sofia and thoroughly enjoyed it. We sampled excellent food which we would never have found for ourselves. She was knowledgeable about Turkish history and very friendly. It was like going for a walk and food with a friend. She was interested in talking about current issues in Turkey and was interested in the situation in our countries. Would highly recommend

I was on Secret Food Tours other Istanbul food tour - the Spice Market and Historic Centre walking tour - led by Erbil. There were seven in our group which is a great number for this kind of walk. Erbil is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and informative.

He told us about the food and Turkish eating habits with some history thrown in. There were seven stops that started with breakfast at the Spice Market and ended with baklava and coffee in Karakoy. There was a great variety of food in between but the leisurely pace meant I managed to try everything without feeling too full. At the same time I couldn’t have eaten another bite by the time we finished .

I can certainly recommend Secret Tours having been on their walking tours in several countries. If you’re lucky, you’ll get Erbil as your guide in Istanbul.

We were very pleased with the food selection on the Secret Food Tour, and the information provided by our guide Erbil. The experience exceeded our expectations. Eat only a very light breakfast the day of your tour as you want to save room for all that you will taste on the tour. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Was really fortunate to have Melis as my tour guide. The group that was supposed to attend the tour with me changed their booking at the last minute and I ended up having a 1-1 guide (lucky me!). The tour is easily the best itinerary I had in Istanbul. Melis really knows her way around the Asian part of Istanbul, and spared no details. I even learned about the marriage custom in istanbul! Check out the pics for some highlights!

Melis was a great tour guide. She kept the group engaged and shared so much information about Turkish history and culture as well as the local neighborhood and of course, the food. Our small group of 6 had a great time! Highly recommended!!!
