St Maarten – St Martin has a unique and fascinating cultural heritage, our local identity. One Island, One People!

Our cultural heritage is rich with generational lessons of flora and fauna, food and drink, music and dance, language and trade. As Sint Maarteners, we have much to be proud of. The history of our people is embedded in the stories of our ancestors, the music and dance of our souls, the food and the remedies of our soil, and the occupation of our hands.

The cultural heritage of a nation or region is not solely composed of monuments and museum collections, but also of living intangible expressions inherited from our ancestors and passed on to our descendants. Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) has been recognized because of its value to the people of every nation, creed and tongue.

Our half day Cultural Heritage Tour is very informative, for the mind, the body, the eyes as well as the taste buds.

This tour was amazing and full of so many unforgettable moments!

Werner was professional, friendly, and knew so much about the island from it's well known history to local folktales. We had planned for a small group, but got lucky with no one else going on the same tour so it ended up being private and extremely intimate.

We had the opportunity to meet Ruby Bute, one of St. Martin's leading painters who shared humbling stories of her childhood, tasted so many flavors or rum, went for a mild hike with amazing views, and even met Natasha from Pasture Piece, the former home of a wealthy plantation owner, turned into a cute bed and breakfast.

Every part of this tour was authentic, rich in history, and being able to share conversations about life and how the world is changing brought so much perspective. This was the best part of our vacation to the Caribbean and would highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting St. Martin.
