We enjoyed ourselves during the boat cruise and lunch, limestrone cave visit and kayaking/ bamboo boat ride. Explanations on the respective sites were clear and concise.

Our tour guide, Uy, was excellant and attentive. He tried his best to ensure everyone in his tour group have a good time taking in the sights and sounds of the places visited.

It even consider, Very disappointing start of our cruise, we await the rest which I hope they will make up for which I am gagging to review at the end of our cruise

Harry was a very good tour guide. He was clear and concise with his history explanation. He was also very humourous and caring for the whole tour group. The biggest takeaway from the tour was his famous catch phrase, "enjoy life." :)

I found this agency through TripAdvisor...we had a nice experience...everything was as described..it's the only activity in Vietnam that you can't organise on your own..yes, this is massive tourism but at least with them you will have a good time..

Our group of 3 including my mom, my sister and I went on the full-day trip and had an absolutely incredible experience! The tour guide was very accommodative and helpful. The lunch and the activities were totally worth the price. Overall, the trip gave me surprisingly unforgettable memories!!

Comments against the statements on the web site:-

Cruise aboard a traditional junk … didn’t see any battened sails on it anywhere, just a common or garden tourist cruise boat.

Hotel pickup …. Only if you are in the old quarter, otherwise make your own way to the pick up point in city center.

Visit a craft workshop … giant warehouse with room for 50 tourist buses outside. Althouh to be fair, the silks that the girls were making were quite good. For me, the best part of the day.

Reaching the city pier at around 12:00 … 12:30

Greeted on board with a welcome drink …. Still waiting for that drink.

Fresh seafood lunch … mainly good, apart from the stone cold chips (seafood?), and gelatinous sticky rice.

Drinks excluded …. disappointing to see the ship staff just handing out cans off drinks whilst the food was being distributed, and then coming back later with the bill. Can’t believe I fell for that old chestnut.

View innumerable white sand beaches … well I spotted three.

Peaceful coves …. Apart from around 50 cruise boats all making the same journey.

Observe the daily life of the fisherman …. As they sell knick-knacks to the tourists, or staff the bamboo boat conveyor belt.

Floating village … we saw one hut moored to the bamboo boat jetty.

Return to the pier at 17:00 … we were back on the bus by 16:00.

Hotel drop-off … not included if your hotel is not in the old quarter. Our tour guide even refused to drive within the old quarter in the direction of our hotel. Instead we were dropped off at a random street in the center of Hanoi with a cheery wave and “the (triple rate) taxis are that way”.

Overall impression … disappointing.
Would I recommend? Not to a friend.

After lovely day of touring Halong bay, our bus dropped us at the hotel. While the bus was departing, we realized that we left our credit card in the bus (I know, very foolish of us). With the help of our friendly receptionist at Golden Hanoi Hotel, we got through with the Charming Vietnam Travel’s office. As we were explaining the situation, they hung up on us and wouldn’t answer our calls for entirety of the evening. Worrying cardiac arrest, we decided to go to their office and check on them. When we reached, we realized they just closed shop, therefore not answering the calls.
First thing in the next morning, we called them to see if they’d pick up this time. Luckily they picked up and said they would let us see if the card is still in the bus, if we’d come around their office at 8:30pm. Okay we said and proceeded to show up at their office at 8:30pm sharp just to find them closed AGAIN. Since we didn’t have local SIM card, we had to scrum back to our hotel and call them. Upon happily confirming that they are truly closed for the day, fine people at Charming Vietnam Travel informed that the bus won’t be back for another FIVE days. Thus destroying any chance that I might see my card ever again.
Thanks to Charming Vietnam Travel’s support and courtesy, we got to have a nice conversation with our friends and family asking for money, while convincing them that it is actually us speaking to them.

It was unbelievable how much we got done in one day. The bus was very comfortable and our tour guide was very knowledgable. Although it is a long bus ride from Hanoi, we still felt that we saw a lot! The lunch was very delicious and everything was fresh with nice flavors. We tour the bay, walked through the caves and had a bamboo boat ride. I think if you are looking for a taste of the bay this is a perfect way to experience it.

It was a day full of the amazing Halong Bay. The view, the scenary, the cave, the kayak ride, all just perfect. The drive to take us there was 4 hours and on the way back we chipped in to take the express way which cut the time in almost half, so that was a bonus. It was all worth it, the lunch was quite good for this type of group tours. The people on the boat very kind and polite. But definetly the view and the activities make it worth it. Out guide, T, was very well organized, alwaya smiling, very positive attitude throughout the day. He was very informative and his English, one of the best I heard in Vietnam. Congrats T. and thank you!
