Our tour guides’ relentless effort to make our day trip visit to Montenegro a wonderful experience. Accommodating, friendly and sincere people in my opinion. Thanks to Tomi and Igor.

Tomi was awful. He had a very thick accent and he mumbled. Very difficult to understand. He also seemed to have his own agenda. He requested a pick up at 9 instead of 8 which was fine. Then wanted to take us to a town in Bosnia. One person said yes and the rest of us said that wasn’t part of the tour. Off we went to Bosnia. We got there and saw a lovely new church that had a great overlook. He wanted to take us to old town and we said we thought this was nice but we really wanted to go to Kotor as we had planned. That made him angry and he said ‘it’s nice but not nice enough to spend a half an hour walking around old town.’ We insisted we go to Kotor.

But first we stopped at a grocery store where he got water. He also bought something for himself to eat and we headed out. It took quite a while to get there. He made several stops to look at the view and one long enough for us to use the restroom. When I asked if we could just get to Kotor he very curtly replied that he’d like to keep to the original schedule since that is what we wanted. ‘Is that ok? And used my name in almost a threatening manner.

We finally got to Kotor at 2 pm. He parked at a casino a few blocks from the main gate. We walked there and asked for a lunch break. He said he had a place in Budva he was taking us when we were through here. He took us on a tour through town that consisted of reading the plaques on the wall. We stopped in front of St Tryphon and I asked about the Saint that was there. He told me there wasn’t one….but there is. Another person in my party asked him a question about another church and he said ‘Do you have a problem learning? I have already answered that question.’
We were tired, hot and hungry and he allowed us 20 minutes after his tour to do what we wanted. At the end of our 20 minutes he took us back to the car via the top of the wall.
When we got to the car he asked if we needed the restroom….we did not but he said he did. He left us in the hot parking lot. It was about 90 degrees. After 10 minutes I went into the casino to see what was going on. He was chatting with a bar maid while we were out sweating in the hot sun.

On to Budva. We took the scenic route through an industrial park. Parked the car at a construction site and walked to his restaurant. It was actually quite nice and we were starving as it was now 5 pm. After dinner he wanted to walk us around old town, it was 6:30 pm and we wanted to go home. So we took a roundabout way back to the car. We got back to Dubrovnik at 9:30 pm.
Why weren’t we more forceful in telling him what we wanted? - because he was quite intimidating. None of us can speak Croatian and we were not sure what his agenda was as it appeared he had one other than the tour we signed up for.

While we saw some of what we wanted it was not an enjoyable day. I would not recommend him as a guide for anyone

I booked a tour for my husband, my 2 kids (4 and 6 years old), my Sister in Law and Partner plus myself. We were all in Durbovnik for the week looking to explore outside of Croatia. I had heard wonderful things about Montenegro! However we had heard the border can take long crossing over.
Communication leading up to the tour was great with Tomi. He is very knowledgeable in the area, best places to see, the history, culture etc.
We started the day in Bosnia which had no line ups at the border. What a GEM that was to experience, was not on my to go list of places but I am so glad we got to see it.
Then we had a few stops in Montenegro. Crossing the border from Bosnia to Montenegro was quick small lineups!
The views were stunning, we had incredible food, plus we did the boat out to lady of the rock. Doesn't seem like much but when you get there it is a 360 view of just stunning small towns and mountains. It reminded me a lot of the fjords in Norway.
One of the best parts of Bosnia and Montenegro is you get to see beautiful old towns, great natural views but without the CROWDS of Dubrovnik. This day trip is a must for anyone looking to explore past Croatia to all the hidden gems just on the other side of the border.

What an incredible experience! I booked this tour for my husband, my 2 kids (4 and 6) and my Sister in Law and her partner. We had heard good things about Montenegro so we were excited to check it out. Reading many reviews I had heard that the border crossing can be difficult and can take a long time. Leading up to the tour our guide Tomi was in communication and made arranging the final details easy. He is super knowledgeable about the area, from the history, culture, food, best little spots and knew when to hit the border and when to avoid it. Our family had the best time experiencing the beautiful sights and this is a MUST do if you are in Dubrovnik. The towns you stop at are STUNNING but it doesn't have the crazy crowds you get in Croatia - and it is more affordable for meals etc. Thank you Tomi for the most memorable tour!

Driver had car issues and was 1 hour late. He drove an unregistered car and we were stopped at the Montenegro border. The driver was fined 1,000 euros. Our passports were taken by the police and they would not release them back to us until he went to an ATM and came back to pay his fine. Worst experience ever. We never made it to the excursion due to all these issues. Tour was to start at 8:00 am. We were still at the border with police at 11:30 am.
