Your guide is Edinburgh based stand-up comic Daniel Downie - and his trusty sidekick Brahan the dog! Daniel has brought several sell-out shows all about Scotland to the Edinburgh Fringe and is currently studying for a Masters degree in Scottish history. Daniel has been described as 'outstanding' and 'must see' by the Scotsman newspaper and his show about Mary Queen of Scots was named 'Best History Show' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

We started off our 17 days Scotland trip with Daniel's Comedy Walking Tour of Edinburgh. What a great choice! Daniel was both hilarious and knowledgeable, and his ability to remember all our names and occupations, working them into the jokes, was incredible!
We highly recommend booking this tour!

Let’s cut right to the chase. I wish I could give a 4 1/2. I can’t quite give a five because it’s just not going to be everyone’s cup of tea! Daniel is a standup comedian in the evening by profession who also happens to have a masters in history (or something like that). If you are easily offended, this is NOT the tour for you! In my opinion Children need not apply. Now then, if you are looking for something out of the ordinary and don’t want one of those boring overcrowded generic tours, and also want to learn more about the history of Edinburgh the good the bad and the ugly you could really enjoy this. He’s witty, handsome, knows his stuff He tells a mean Robby Burns poem and his pooch is absolutely irresistible!

This tour was the best intro to Edinburgh. Daniel is a bundle of energy and whit. You will be in for an interactive time of laughter, jokes and sattire. Not for the prudish as contains some colourful language but when in Edinburgh you should get into it. We had a great laugh and loved learning a lot of interesting stuff from Daniel who is an excellent guide and story and whiskey joke teller. Do yourselves a favour and book this tour.

I have to say that I admire Daniel for many reasons. I didn't agree with some of his presentation, more due to some of the humor topic not being in agreement with some of my own personal beliefs, but I don't think that should be a penalty on him.
So why give him 5 stars when I didn't like some of his humor? The fact is, he has put the work into this. In between sections, while we're walking from one place to another, I was able to chat with him on a more personal level and he shared that he was getting his master's in history, while also doing tours, while also doing his stand up comedy. He's not lazy, he knows what he's talking about, and has found a way to put it together in a manner that isn't, at all, boring. So even though I may not agree with him (on the target of jokes), he has my respect and I think he has something to offer.
He also has a human side I found touching. Before we even started, he made sure that he knew everyone's name and where they're from. He called us all by name though out the tour. That meant something to me. Now, I believe it also allowed him to "work the crowd" as it helps him do his job better, but nonetheless it meant something to me.
I would recommend him, and I would have another tour with him again. I know that if I have questions, he'll have answers...and he'll provide them without hesitation or a need to think. He just seems to know his stuff. Finally, just in transparency (and not to be critical, since this is a review), the comedy is blue in nature.

The Montebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh was an absolute blast! Andrew as very funny, entertaining, and informative. His humor was irreverent and up to date. I really appreciated his engagement with the group. We learned new and interesting aspects of Edinburgh and he had several great recommendations for pubs and restaurants. We highly recommend taking the tour!
The only downside was dealing with the third-party vendor, Fever, that handled to scheduling and billing. Very difficult to contact and resolve questions. I hope other, better organizations will take over for Fever in the future.

Excellent old city tour, and the injection of irreverent humour added to the experience. Daniel is an accomplished entertainer and knowledgeable historian, and usually accompanied by his placid white Groodle. This well behaved dog added to our enjoyment of the tour. Highly recommended.

Worth every bit for this hilariously entertaining, yet educational walk through old town! Would highly recommend if you have a bit of time and want a fun way to learn a lot about the rich history of Scotland. Daniel was charming and easy to warm up to. I was impressed that he learned everyone’s names.
