WOW, very interesting and very disturbing at the same time, but worth the visit if you can handle the confronting images

A very detailed account of the War. Don’t waste time and money booking a tour with a guide or through your hotel for the museum. Take a Grab (their version of Uber) to the museum - request the audio guide (they will give you headphones - that you can play according the plaques or floors in the museum (multiple languages as well - all pre-recorded). You can go at your own pace and skip if a certain segment if needed. To enter is about $1. With the audio guide - will work out to around $4.

We went to the war museum by ourselves (not through a tour company). We used the audio guide and found this very insightful and would definitely recommend. The contents of the museum are largely photographs however this really bought the information to life. This is a must when in HCMC as I think it’s something that everyone should learn about while in Vietnam.

I visited around 3 pm, and it was very convenient since I was staying near the center. The Vietnam story may not be as widely spoken of as Hiroshima's, but the tragedy and resilience of the Vietnamese people is something that can't be captured in words. I recommend using the headphones for an immersive experience rather than going with a tour guide. It's easy to spend 2-3 hours absorbing the powerful exhibits and stories.

This museum is confronting. It is a true depiction of the ugliness of war with some exceptional stories of hate and heroism.
Absolutely heartbreaking and yet you just have to go out the doors to see how truly forgiving and beautiful Vietnamese people are.

Left feeling quite sad, didn’t see all of the place. Again, the atrocities of war, photographs, many of them. What one human being can do to another was beyond us.
That said, generations that didn’t grow up during the Vietnam War need to learn this horrific history to ensure it never happens again.

Poignent and at times a difficult read and listen but captures the history in an honest and eye opening way

I arrived at 11 and it is busy but limited queue.

It costs around 120,000VD to enter and to get and audio guide.

There are 3 levels of the museum where you have vehicles, photos and testimonies of the war and its history

I love history so this was up my street.

You start of L2 and work your way down, from the colonial history, the role of the French, then the war during the battle between democracy and Communism.

Communism isnt really raised which i was comfortable with. This is more about a testimony on the battlefield.

The photos capturing the final days of many journalists who died during the conflict during an age of improving technology snd a far more agile press i found brilliant, and the audio guide made it feel real.

I found the section talking about the way the US used Dioxins to mow down the rainforest which resulted in members of the population being left with illness and subsequent generations with genetic disorders and disfigurement really gut wrenching but also real.

Its a must visit place for Ho Chi Minh - thank you for putting on this important part of history

Enjoyed seeing all the military equipment including the various aircraft. The museum itself was fantastic with so many pictures ( some gory) but full of information about the war.

Both informative and sad. For anyone who feels discomfort at hearing criticism of the US, don't go. Not to say the US is painted poorly just accurately. While the displays are dated and simple, the story told is poignant.
