Running through the heart of London; the River Thames has played a central role in the history of the city, and when the tide is low, the capital’s longest archaeological site is revealed!

We will have about 1h 30mins on the foreshore at low tide before the tide starts to come in. We visit the foreshore at various places along the River Thames throughout the year.

The days we can go down onto the foreshore depend on the tide being low. I'm also limited as to when I can take people down to the foreshore.

We will look for historical objects along a stretch of the foreshore.  You won't be allowed to scrape or dig, just eyes only.

This is a great activity for children, but have to be accompanied by an adult if under 16 years old.

I'll be holding up a 'Thames Beachcombing' sign when we meet.

A great fun day beach combing on the banks of the Thames. Found pottery and roof tiles from before the great fire of London and an imprint of a past lives fingerprints when making a handle on a bowl. Amazing

Extremely well-organised under the auspices of our extremely knowledgeable and helpful guide Robert. There's a wealth of history just waiting to be discovered (literally!) and even if you don't find your fortune, you're almost guaranteed to find a memorable keep-sake to remind you of the experience.
In summary, a GREAT experience and excellent value for money.

The mudlarking tour made the 25hr flight all worth while. It was such a great experience and would love to do it again on another part of the river. Although it looked at first to be a large group there was plenty of space for everyone to search unheeded. Robert's knowledge of our finds was SO helpful and informative. If you love history this is a perfect way to experience it first hand. Loved it.

This outing made that 25hr flight all worth while. Even tho we looked like a largish group there was plenty of space for everyone to search unheeded. Robert's knowledge of our finds was SO helpful. I will do it again next trip. Hopefully on another stretch of the Thames to see what other amazing finds are waiting to be discovered.

I found several interesting pieces that I brought home with me. The guide was very knowledgeable both in helping me identify things as I picked them up and sorting the interesting from the junk at the end to decide what to keep. Several of the others with us are regulars and quite knowledgeable as well

This was the highlight of our holiday, we have wanted to go Mudlarking for a long time and had an amazing experience. Robert was a great guide, approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. He gave a nice summary of what to look out for, and at the end reviewed our finds. We were able to go off on our own and search for finds. We will definitely do this again! Thanks!

Went with my husband and two kids, aged 5 and 8. We all had a great time. Our guide showed us some pictures of things we might find before we started so we knew what to look for. We had lots of time to look and even my 5 year old was engaged the whole time. Afterward the guide looked at everyone’s finds and told us all what we had found, how old it was etc. It was so interesting, not just to hear about our stuff but everyone else’s as well. Definitely one of the most fun things we’ve done in London. The only thing was the gloves were too big for my five year old. Not sure if it’s even possible to find smaller ones but if you are bringing a young child perhaps try to find your own gloves to bring. His kept falling off and it was quite annoying.

I booked in Jan or February for May. When you book you don’t know the exact location so could be quite far east or west along the Thames.
